WHAT IS POVERTY - HOW CAN IT BE OVERCOME

Anything that we require while living on Earth is dependent on money mostly. Most of the solutions may be achieved through surplus availability of personal solvent financial status. So, unanimous observation is money is an indispensable and integral part of our life. Theoretically, we must strive to secure our life and those of our near dear ones with the help of cash in hand at our disposal.

Let us look at the statistics. 1% of world population is rich, 3-4% are middle class, rest 95% are poor. What may, one may ask, comprise this segregation? The rich are those who do not have to trade with their TIME to procure money, money is invested to give them exponential returns. Middle class are the ones who have secured their and their immediate near dear ones’ lives, but will not leave any legacy to their progeny. Poor are the ones who could not secure their education, health and daily living needs and hence, are dependent on the Govt / NGOs doles.

For the sake of easy calculation, let us assume there are 3% rich, 97% poor worldwide, at any demography, country wise. 97% of money is concentrated in the hands of 3% and vice versa. There is no exception to this, it’s the universally held dimension. Even if by some sheer chance of event, this can be toppled, that is, money be evenly distributed among 100% of population, this system will revert to this earlier ratio soon. Why does the wealth get concentrated in only 3%s hand?

It’s because 3% always think, behave and act differently, proactively. They manage their wealth. The poor manage their labour –skill. What options individuals like us have? To walk over to the 3% elite club. How can one do that??

A million dollar question indeed!!

One must discard present mode of education since childhood. At the silly least, one must not attach importance to the present mode of obsolete education which aims to create labours (Even professional-Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers, CA-they all trade with their time to earn their livelihood). Today’s education teaches never to think of money, transactions, wealth, investments because it’s the root of all evil. Financial literacy is never practically demonstrated in our schools. They spoil kids’ future by making them rote the syllabus that will not be of direct use in future.

Talk to a Doctor, successful Chartered Accountant, Engineer, Lawyers. Do they have to recall what is Boyle’s Law, Pythagoras theorem, valency chart, Bohr’s atomic model in their day to day professional life? At the most, one can consult the book and find them.

But the very word that a kid learns in English has a direct application until he/she carries on his/her profession. The grammatical application he/she remembers can help him/her write/speak effectively to draw appreciation and enhance clientele.

On the contrary, if you ask any Indian teenager about Bank Draft, Overdraft, Difference of usages between savings and current account, he/she will, in all probability, gawk and geek at you-being clueless. But, this is the very knowledge that is going to be used in his / her life after he/she starts earning, sometimes, even before that.

Apart from lagging financial literacy, there is wanting of education in how to create heirloom, legacy and wealth. But, I’ll discuss them in some other article.

Unless stress is given in inculcating financial wisdom and value of English learning in educational institutions, we’ll continue to produce burdensome idiocy and the resultant poor will continue to be more helpless and dependent on Taxpayers’ money.
